MS Live Meeting – Print to PDF

November 30th, 2005 No comments

Had a session online today with a business partner who was using Microsoft’s Live Meeting server. He was presenting pages from documents which were useful to our discussions. I would doubt he would have wanted to share the entire document. However when he launched the meeting he left the settings at default which allows “Print to PDF”, and that is a great feature which dumps the entire document (not just the visible pages to PDF).

I think the feature is superb method for allowing attendees to get hold of a presentation. I do however feel that this is a little security hole during dynamic meetings where you may need to jump into various documents and you don’t necessarily want to share the entire document with attendees. Perhaps the service should be coded in such a way that each time you share an application or document that you are prompted as the meeting moderator whether you wish to allow attendees to print to pdf.

First screenshots of Sametime 7.1

The first screenshots of Sametime 7.1 have appeared here.

They show a major change in look and feel compared to Sametime 6.5 and 7.0. What is still unclear is what the backend functionality will include in terms of VoIP integration at both client and meeting server level and whether SIP and SIMPLE are supported. Time will tell.
